Moving companies can offer you many different services when you are moving your residence. Depending on how far you plan on moving will determine the moving companies that you choose. There are even international moving companies that specialize in moving people to different regions of the world.

Packing Services

Some moving companies pack up everything for you, move it and then unpack it for you at your new home, eliminating a lot of stress and work on your part. These full service moving companies usually specialize in moving people long distances. If you want to save yourself the pain of having to pack and move your items, you can ask for packing services from the moving companies in your area. Even if you are only moving a short distance, there are these moving services available. Moving companies will usually send out a representative to determine an estimate for the job based upon the amount of rooms and type of items that you have. You will normally have some sort of insurance as well.

Storage Services

Some moving companies will offer you storage services as well as moving. If you are planning on moving but will have a gap between the time you move into your new home and the time that you leave your old home, you may want to use storage services. This will allow your items to be stored until a time comes that you will be able to retrieve them.

Storage Pods

Some people prefer to store their items themselves when they are moving and request moving companies to send them storage pods. These are large metal containers that can be used for storage of anything. You request moving companies to deliver the pods to your home, drop them in the driveway and then retrieve them when you are finished with the storage. These pods are large enough to walk in and can store a number of different items, including large furniture.

Rental Trucks

If you are planning on moving close to home, you may wish to find out about borrowing trucks from moving companies. Most moving companies, in addition to offering moving, also rent trucks for movers. Rental trucks are rented similar to as you would rent a car from moving companies.

Moving companies offer many different services, in addition to moving local as well as national and in some cases, internationally. In addition to the above services, moving companies also sell moving boxes and supplies.

Moving companies will usually charge you for the move based upon how much furniture you have, how far you are moving and how many men they will send to help you move. Most moving companies charge by the hour as well as the distance and some will charge extra if they send an extra man.
