Moving Companies in Los Angeles

Moving is a very stressful process sometimes, when you have to pack everything and move everything into a new home, rearrange and everything else. It can be hard to know exactly where to start, but there’s an easier way to make sure your move goes as smoothly as can be. If you’re in Los Angeles, there are different moving companies in that area that will come and help you gather your belongings, care for them and set them up in your new home. Some will even help you to pack so you can get moved and settled more quickly. Some of the better companies to look for in Los Angeles are VIP Relocation, Hercules Moving Services and Oz Moving and Storage. These companies all offer good services in their fields.

How Many Moving Companies Are in Los Angeles?

There are about a dozen or so moving and storage companies in Los Angeles, all offering different services. There are some moving companies, which help you to get your belongings moved, and there are some storage companies. Storage companies offer you a lot at a monthly fee to store belongings you don’t intend on taking into your new house just yet, but might in future. It’s basically like a private warehouse where you can keep extra possessions. Storage companies find the best of these facilities (the most secure, most space, and other factors).

Moving Tips

The more you know about moving, the less work the moving companies in Los Angeles will have to do and the less you’ll have to pay. You should get started packing as soon as possible – you can go down to your local grocery store and likely get enough boxes to store everything, or simply order them from the US Postal Service. They don’t cost you anything except for maybe shipping and handling. Make sure all like belongings are put together, with fragile things like electronics, glassware, lamps, etc in their own separate boxes. Don’t let someone place a lamp in with other valuables, because both could wind up broken. Clearly label all your boxes, and write a note on the needed ones saying ‘fragile’. Make sure it’s clear which end is meant to go up.

Packing Tips

Other services performed by moving companies in Los Angeles are storage-related. They’ll help you find a place to store all your unnecessary belongings until you decide you want to bring them back to your new home. You can put old photo albums, boxes of clothes, old electronics and basically anything else you don’t really need. Make sure the place you’re storing your belongings is secure. Have a lock and key made, or if there’s one already, have an extra one just in case you lose the original. Also take a note of the environment – what’s the air like? If the air’s humid, you’ll want to be careful about storing things like books and clothes, because moisture in the air can cause clothes to mildew and paper to yellow and weaken.

If you follow these moving and storage tips you’ll do fine when it’s time to move to that new house. Even though moving is stressful, it can be made much easier.
